OMICS Day: Next Generation Biology at UM

Tue May 22, 2012

OMICS Day provides a unique and premier forum to learn about the high throughput “systems” biology research at University of Maryland, to foster new synergistic partnerships, and to contemplate future directions.

Revolutionary advances in biotechnologies, especially sequencing technology, has ushered biological research into a new era, with the focus rapidly shifting from single gene/protein to entire genomes and genome-wide networks of genes, proteins, metabolites, and epigenomic modifiers. The unprecedented growth in diverse biological data presents new opportunities as well as challenges that demand multi-disciplinary collaborations between biology, mathematics, statistics, computation and engineering.

This dynamic conference is designed to unite researchers and practitioners with a shared interest in genomics and computational biology tools, technology, and techniques.

Where: The Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR) in Rockville, Maryland, centrally located in the heart of the Route 270 Biotechnology Corridor.

Participate: Registration Deadline May 11
All University of Maryland students/postdocs/faculty interested in high throughput biology are welcome. Students/Postdocs are strongly encouraged to register and optionally contribute a poster.
Registration is free but REQUIRED for attendance and limited to the first 150 registrants.
