T. vaginalis proved to be an extremely challenging genome to assembly because of its large size and highly repetitive nature.

Techniques applied:

  • Celera Assembler with novel overlap-based trimming
  • AutoJoiner
  • AutoEditor
  • "Assemble in the gap" local assemblies with minimus

Slides describing the techniques and results.

Notes on the assembly and genome characteristics.
