Trichomonas vaginalis
Michael Schatz
Art Delcher
January 2005
T. vaginalis proved to be an extremely challenging genome to assembly because of its large size and highly repetitive nature.
Techniques applied:
- Celera Assembler with novel overlap-based trimming
- AutoJoiner
- AutoEditor
- "Assemble in the gap" local assemblies with minimus
Slides describing the techniques and results.
Notes on the assembly and genome characteristics.
