I am currently a doctoral candidate in Computer Science at the University of Maryland CBCB under advisor Dr. Steven Salzberg.
I also lead an engineering group in bioinformatics at the new Institute
for Genome Sciences (IGS), which is part of the University of
Maryland School of Medicine and the UMB BioPark. Previous to
joining IGS, I was a senior engineer and manager of a bioinformatics
group at the institute previously known as TIGR, now operating as part of the J. Craig Venter Institute. Before
joining TIGR, I received a B.S. from Duke University where I
majored in Chemistry and Computer Science.
My research interests include large scale comparative genomics,
whole genome alignment, gene annotation, information visualization, and
high throughput computing.
