¨      Developed various programs, some of which included file automation using Perl, and similar scripts.

n     Extended knowledge of Windows, Linux/Unix and MAC OS X

n     Database design, use and implementation

¨      Developed automated scripts to populate, parse, create and display data.

n     Basic Project Management

¨      Defining objectives for a project, gathering information, resources, and teamwork.

Experience

The Zhulin Lab, Atlanta, GA

  Dec. 2004 - Dec. 2005

Research Assistant

n     Cache subdomain analysis project

¨      Designed and implemented a Relational Database to store various analysis results.

¨      Developed a suite of programs to automate thousands of BLAST searches, Pfam/SMART domain predictions, secondary structure predictions, find Transmembrane, signal peptide and low complexity regions for each BLAST hit.

¨      The programs developed also created multiply alignments of sequences specified by the user.

¨      Developed a front-end user interface.

n     Developed various professional websites (please see portfolio on my website).

n     Worked on reassembling an incorrectly assembled 3.5Mbp draft genome.

¨      This involved finding correct position and orientation of a set of contiguous sequences (contigs) in relation to a finished sequence at the nucleotide level by suffix tree analysis.

n     Other projects at the Zhulin Lab include core gene annotation and multiple sequence alignments using phylogenetics.
